The Story

The first inception of the band can be traced back to Wheaton College nestled in the heart of oh so prodigious Norton, MA. Kevin "Paco" Morin was walking down the hallway of his dorm the day of the first ever Wheaton talent show ('01) when he heard soulful singing, fierce drumming, and the twang of a blues riff coming from the room of his RA, Adam. So he stuck his head into Adam's (aka the Freak) room to check out what was happening. The Freak and "Diamond" Dan Miller, were practicing a song Diamond had written and were going to perform it at the talent show. Paco had also signed up for the show but didn't know exactly what he was going to do, so he asked them if they wanted a bass line. He plugged in his bass and they ran through the song, appropriately named "Booty Call." They then came up with the name "Paco's Freaky Diamond" and were awarded third place (which would have been first save for a few of the band members bad runins with one of the female judges.) Let it be known, that the day of the talent show was the first day Diamond and Paco had ever met. Shortly after, they mutually agreed that they should put together a set and play on campus. Being April, this left just over a month to do so before they graduated. The first ever Paco's Freak 'N' Diamond show was at the campus coffee bar, The Lyon's Den. A seven song set comprised of 6 originals and a cover of Bill Wither's "Use Me" was played to a standing room only crowd. The reviews were overwhelming, obvious talent had been unearthed.

Diamond moved back to TN after graduating then after two years had a change of heart. They reunited, changed the band name and decided they needed more band members to round out the lineup so added Adam "Adrock" Marcionek, a high school friend of Kevin's, on bass. With the help of drummers Matt Kelly (Grey Area) and Seth Adams (Kill the Painter), the new and yet to be signed band getbox played for a year in and around Boston. Then, through a friend of a friend of a friend, the three met Rob Kerr at one of their shows in which he expressed his desire to become a full time drummer. That amazing chain of events leaves us were we are today.

And now?

Getbox continues to unleash their bluesy funk-rock melodies on the Greater Boston area and continues to impress audiences all over town. With an ever-growing fan base of hundreds of fans and excellent connections with local bands, getbox is guaranteed to turn any night into a memorable event. The getbox sound has been described as bluesy, southern fried, soul filled funk-rock with a twist of downright dirty lyrics, because in the end, they always play for the ladies.
